He pretty much told him "You won't see any of your $9m+ contract money that the Knicks are dumping if you keep fricking around."
I figure the same would happen if Marion opted into the final year of his contract, knowing he had been traded, then refused to report.

Different situation with the amnesty. The CBA madness was going on, and Stern was trying to draw a line in the sand on something that was fought hard for, so players couldn't abuse it.
This is a scenario that has happened quite often, unfortunately. Stern can say anything he wants, but the reality would be that Marion will say he's going to refuse to report, and yeah he can get fined, but we are out of 10.7 mill in cap space during the signing period.
That's leverage.

Was this before or after Fisher bullshitted with the Rockets and ended up with OKC?
