I've only buried one. Unmarked grave under an old oak tree on Nicholson. Digging the hole certainly gives you time to think and tires you out

I have always just buried mine in the woods somewhere.

I live in a neighborhood. I have no idea what I will end up doing. Dumping over the side of the bridge at Menard just doesn't seem right.

Longer than my marriage. Sounds like your guy is on the downslope, but not there yet.
My lab lasted 12 years, but I had to put him down a coupleo f months ago. Great dog. I buried him at the ex-mother-in-law's place, which is a pet cemetery for all my kids' pets.

Surely you have some friends that owns a few acres out in the country.

I prefer to bury them for the act of closure, it just seems to make the next step forward a little easier. But that's just me...
Sorry for the loss of your friend.

That is so mean. Martie deserves better. I'll get you a slot at the Pet Sematery in Colfax, at Willow Break Hunting Club.

I threw my basset hound in the dumpster in the quarters.
Then I told my ex wife I burried it.
true story, Tclayboy was with me.
edit: i forgot the part about stuffing him into a corn sack first

I have no problem with that. Digging a hole is fine if you want to farm worms for bream fishing later down the line.

yes, snot is on pants.
I do claim to have originated that location as a dumping spot for fish carcasses though. Turtles' gotta eat, same as a worm.

Bury the dog. Digging the hole does 2 things: 1. It makes you too tired to dwell on the loss; and 2. It gives you closure.

You realize how strange that is? You are the guy that would rather see a dead kid on the side of the road before a fricking beagle?
Your dog eats his own poo and would forget about you in 2 days.
Sociopath.
