Carra retired, but he was a starter for the entire second half of last year. Clearly he was not what he once was, but was still a good option.

He retired for his own reasons, not because he wasn't good enough to play anymore (cough cough, Giggs/Scholes/insert Man U septegenerian here)

My basic point was how quickly a player can go from starting week in and week out to retiring, for whatever reason.

Carragher hasn't really had any physical injuries the past couple years. Maybe a couple knocks, but nothing big.

I think Gerrard will be a starter for one more year. Possibly more AKA Pirlo but it will be tough.

I'm not sure how Stevie feels about that (again, much different with MFers) obviously he's looking to his future with the quotes today about starting to get his coaching badges...

There is def too long... Did you hear the ManUre supporters bitching about starting Giggs over the weekend? I hope we arent saying the same about Stevie in a couple years... Gotta know when to walk away.
