are you a fan of choking your johnson before you take it out for a ride? I feel like a prechoke can cause it to leak some gas during the ride.

When I was looking for the right vessel it depended on the situation. As you know not all boats are equal. If planning a prolonged ride on a new boat I would prechoke to assure that there would be no false starts. Now that I have permanently chosen my vessel, there is no prechoking.
Smack has been known to choke his Johnson on his boat even if the boat was not prepared for launch.
Alx has long said he dry chokes and self runs his Johnson at home prior to going out. To me that process seems costly and potentially damaging as there is no flow through the ejection port. I mean all that friction with no lubrication for cooling just is'nt smart.

Agree with the advise you are getting but did you change plugs and are you using good gas and or treated gas in good fuel lines?
3 things to look at there.

Only premium ethanol free gas, gets run often enough that the gas doesn't sit and get bad. Fuel lines were replaced a few years ago after ethanol gas tore em up

You should probably lube your Johnson it'll run a lot smoother.

I know some guys will add nitrous to the fuel but that shite is dangerous and can blow up an engine with compression problems.
this is the stupidest thing i have ever seen. nitrous is a gas therefore can not be added to fuel.
it would have to be installed with a kit not by just adding it to the fuel.

I know my Johnson seems to have a vacuum problem. It's not forming as good a seal in the old vessel as when they were both new. Perhaps a change in vessels......Hmmmmmm

My YammerHammer's peehole has been clogged for the last ten years at least.

You're a blow boat guy, correct?
ETA: You probably only use your Johnson when you cant find a good blow.

I blow boat twice a week and shoot off about 5 gallons of gas a year whether I want to or not.

On a serious note, I have no idea how to find the right tube to foam the silverado. Adding to fuel just doesn't seem to do much, and the spray in air intake things seems less effective.
