it is baseball........LSU knew the park is huge-the bats are less hot-pitcher was throwing up in the zone. they should be able to play the style that the conditions dictate .......

just have to go for contact and gap shots more and not try to hit it out, we don't have to straight up switch to small ball
shite if everyone on the team approached like Laird did we would have won last night

No one is saying go "completely" to small ball..but at least utilize it when the time calls for it. For instance, when we're down one in the bottom of the 9th, man on first, 0 outs. The call is incredibly simply: Bunt. Move him over. That's not a spot to gamble. You've had all game to gamble.
Or how about when Ibarra absolutely DESTROYS the baseball in two different at bats which end in fly outs at the warning track. The announcers even said that those balls would be gone in every other college ball park. Coach had to see that and realize "small ball" needs to at least be implemented when it's called for...that's all people are saying.

Look here.....LSU didn't catch any breaks yesterday, (no luck w baseball gods if you will) made 2 costly errors that cost them the game. Lesson learned. End of story. Move on. See what kind of fight is left in this Tiger team and support them while they claw their way back into this thing.

I haven't watched a CWS game in the past two years. I hate that west coast small ball crap. Sure, it is a way to win in that big ball park with good pitching, but it makes for lousy baseball. Score two unearned runs and you win the game? I watched last night hoping we could put some balls in the gaps, but we could get one to find a seam. Just painful. With the dead bats and the big ball park, it just makes it a dull game. Love my Tigers, and I'll watch until the point they are done (hopefully they go all the way), but in the event we don't, I'll turn off the TV till football season. Bunt fests are no fun...

What's the story with the use of aluminum bats in CBB? Why does College Baseball not use wooden bats? Or, are they allowed and teams choose not to use them because of their obvious advantage from a bat speed standpoint?

Wood bats break and most colleges can't afford to buy 500 bats a year.
Oh, and people that whine about small ball are pussies.

I agree with all of you but I just don't like taking the home runs out of the game and that is what this ballpark does. I don't care if it's LSU or not I just don't like small ball.
I know,I know, I'm not a true baseball fan. I only watch collage baseball because the Tigers are playing. But it's boring as hell to watch.

It doesnt have to be all small ball or all gorrilla ball. Its not like LSU has won by the 3 run bomb all year. Everyone on here calling to bunt bunt bunt. If thats not what you are you cant just dial it up. You have to be who you are and LSU has won playing great defense, terrific pitching and attacking pitches at the plate. They only got 1 phase last night and it cost them a game

First off, TD park doesn't take the HRs out of the game, we hit one last night. But you have to absolutely nut it to get it out. I like it better that way personally, hate to lose games when a 180lb beanpole goes yard on you. You want to hit it out, you got to man up. As big a lift as Katzs HR was last night, it was just as much a detriment to our offense, cause everyone kept swinging for the fences. And we better learn to start playing small-ball, cause with these bats today that's what it takes to win championships; great pitching, solid defense and the ability to manufacture runs. Either learn to beat teams with it, or get beat by it.

I understand the fact that TD Ameritrade is bigger in actual dimensions but that's not the point the commentators and I were trying to make..before the game they talked about how it's the first time since 197? that there hasn't been a homer hit in the first three games (we were the 4th game) of the CWS and it's bc of the climate and where the new stadium sits. The old stadium was built on a bluff where the wind was very friendly to hitters (even with these bats) compared to the new stadium which was built basically in a canyon by the river (6 miles away from old park). No wind at all, very hard for a ball to carry.. It's the same dimensions as the old park but the climate coupled with zero wind is the problem. I think the point should be that there's no other park that is this unfriendly to hitters; therefore, the approach and strategy must be changed for teams like us but are favored more by teams like "small ball playing" UCLA.
God I hope they win the whole damn thing.

look at the Louisville-OregSt game right now..small ball, runners on, bunting over, putting pressure on the defense, capitalize on the mistakes..
