Microsoft alienated themselves

They know it will be a long road to get there and yes Sony is whoring out by playing to the lowest common denominator. It's not a bad thing at all and I will not knock them for doing it. A company in their weak financial position is smart to pander to the largest audience that will net them the most sales out of the gate. It's a lot like Dems buying votes with welfare.

I still think allowing used games hurts them in the long run though and if you understood what the Xbox engineer in the OP was saying you would see why.

Xbox is going to go to publishers after 6 months, a year, whatever and say look at used game sales on PS4 vs Xbox percentage wise. If it's less on Xbox then they are going to convince them they can afford to sale their games for less due to a non existent used games market on Xbox. Sony at this point will not have that luxury.

Xbox is also PROMISING publishers they will make something off of every license transfer including used games until they no longer exist.

You say adapt and that's fine but they can't go back on their promise to the consumer now and there is NO way to get to a steam model with a used games market. They simply can't co-exist.

If Microsoft wants to push the download games, then why don't they just offer lower prices on new games now. If I can download a new game for 49.99 as opposed to buying the disk for 59.99 I would consider downloading the game
