He ran for 3000 yds in 3 years. One of 3 backs in franchise history to do so. To paint his time here as a bust is idiotic.
And Ingram hasn't even played a 3rd year yet so that is why the first 2 years were compared. If you look back and compare the first 2 years of their careers then I would take Ingram's first 2 (considering the draft picks) all day every day.

Post MI's stats last year next to PT's.
Wasn't PT a undrafted Free Agent? MI was a 1st and 2nd round pick. Seems like one should blow the other out of the water.

Isn't that exactly what a bust is?
If he was drafted in the fourth, no one would ever call Williams a bust.
We have people on this board complaining that we used a second and first for Ingram.
Are they complaining about Loomis and Payton?
No.
They're complaining about Ingram.
So which is it?

quote:You're putting a lot of words in my mouth. By that standard it would have been impossible for Williams to not be a bust unless he became the greatest RB in NFL history. If he was a successful player for many years and a top rb in the NFL for good amount of time he isn't a bust. It's not his fault that we gave up an entire draft to get him just like it's not Ingram's fault that we spent a first and second on him. You could say that it was dumb to do what we did to get Williams and I would agree, but to say he was a total bust of a player is not true.

No. The knock against Williams is Ditka traded too much for him(Of course people are ignoring how Ditka drafted, it's not like we'd have gotten anything with extra picks in his hands).
The knock against Ingram is we traded too much for him and he sucks.

How long are you supposed to wait to call someone a bust?

That's why you are not a GM and you just fail on message boards. We drafted Duece, Ricky's replacement in the first using the 23 rd pick in Ricky's second year. Why would we do that? Because they made a decision to get rid of him. You are either too old to remember, or too young. We sucked for years after the trade to get Ricky because of what we gave up to get him. We were trading for depth with MI, nothing more. We got him at 28 with a 1st round swap and a second.
It's Ricky.
It's Ricky.

the only year that we straight up sucked was 1999.

Like I said, the decision to do what we did and trade for him was a bust but if you think that automatically makes his career a bust you're a fricking moron. I don't know why you can't grasp that concept.

Go look up Ditka's draft picks. If you think he was bringing in anything worth a shite you're lying to yourself. Ditka just missed out on drafting the 1999 version of Chris Bordano and Jared Tomich.

Could you imagine Ricky Williams in his prime on this Saints teams rightnow. Wow! would be frickin sweet
Now imagine Mark Ingram, lol, poo
Ricky Williams was surrounded my shite when he was here, and was expected to carry the whole team on his back
Don't compare williams to Ingram, Ingram can't hold his jock

You Can't compare the two. One was a 5th over all pick and the other was a 28th. That is my point.
One we traded a second round pick for and the other we traded a draft for. What Ricky did after he left the Saints plays no part in what he did as a Saint, none. He was a TOTAL bust for the Saints and set the Saints organization back. A coach was fired because of that pick if you remember. He didn't even make it to his third year because we drafted another RB in the first round after his first year to replace him. And Melvin, frick you back, that's not very nice.

The saints organization as a whole at that time was a bust, so that's why Williams failed here. I think he did great for what he was dealt. He always played hard through injury, and showed flashes of promise when healthy. Ingram with silver spoon in mouth and loads of talent around him has shown Jackshit

I wouldn't call Williams or bush a bust. Gave up far too much for Williams (or anyone in the history of sports) and bush didnt live up to the hype but he wasn't a bust.
Ingram is still tbd IMO. He hasn't looked like emmitt smith yet but he may break out. If not this year then I think the bust label is appropriate.
