My other option would be a ground up build

Surgeon action and bottom metal
Krieger or Douglas barrel
Timney trigger
McMillan stock

This will cost you well over $5000. Just the surgeon actions alone are over 2k. Then the barrel and action have to be squared on a lathe by a competent smith. Good news is mcmillian stocks dont have to be bedded. More bad news it will take you a hell of a long time to get the parts. I know this because I wanted to strip my 700 action and do the same thing, its the main reason I started taking smithing courses.

For a cheaper option you might consider what John Mccoy from 8541 tactical did. Took a 700 spss and dropped it into a bell and carleson stock and bedded the optic rails to the action. He is able to shoot 1/4 min groups with it.

If I were you Id drop the T3 action onto a shillen pre cut barrel or send it to hart and have them mount the action to the barrel, then drop the whole thing into a B&C stock. Its cheaper and faster and unless you can shoot 1/8 moa groups the surgeon action wont help you much.

I personally think the two best things you get out of a tikka are the trigger and the barrel and wouldn't replace them, but that's just me.

It's a sako barrel and a sweeetttttttttt trigger.

frick, I don't remember the Surgeons costing that much. My boss and I laid it out the other day using 1400 as the actio cost and we came out to a little under 5k total with smith work.

Thanks for the links and suggestions
