Sort of off topic, but I've been in the market for a new inshore set up and am really curious about how much drag is really necessary. The abu garcia revo inshore has like 22 lbs of drag, and a shimano chronarch only has half of that. Is that much drag really necessary?

Not at all. Impact drag matters in tight areas that you will get broken off by a big fish. Inshore doesnt matter as much. 8-12 lbs of impact drag will be just fine.
