Junior definitely has the best skill set, Rufus and Tez have that mold though but it's juniors to lose

I'm sorry....I was a little thrown off....did you actually use decent and duncan in the same sentence? If so I must go and prepare for the apocolypse.

Some, too, have questioned whether Smith has the ability to cover tight ends and backs out of the backfield as the Jack but that's a lesser concern.

Last year, Ware dropped into coverage only 64 times in 896 defensive snaps, according to Pro Football Focus. The 49ers' Jack, Aldon Smith, who had an NFC-high 19.5 sacks, dropped into coverage only 111 times in 1,223 snaps (9.1 percent).

"We'll drop them some, but they're going to make their meat and potatoes with their pass rush," Ryan said.

I tried telling people this. MLB's are mainly responsible for covering people in a 3-4.

While Ware was a high first-round draft pick, the Steelers succeeded for years with low- and mid-round Jacks. Harrison wasn't even drafted out of Kent State in 2002. Lloyd was a sixth-round pick; Greene a fifth-rounder.

let me add that harrison is an outlier for sure, and i hope we can find a similar diamond in the rough

the other 2 aren't really comparable b/c they were drafted when the 3-4 was economical. those guys had lesser value b/c they couldn't fit in the 4-3, which almost everybody else ran. that's why the 3-4 used to be so economical

*ETA: i am warming up to the potential of joonyah and wilson. i wasn't being negative about our roster

Victor Butler looks the part as well. I like our depth and potential with all of these guys.

I'd say so as well. Looking forward to this preseason more than most due to the completion at nearly every spot on defense. Also interested to see the Tackle and WR battles go down.

You joke but Lofton's biggest weakness (albeit he's a damned good player) is his pass coverage. I didn't pay as much attn. to him last year in NO but that was 100% the case when he was with ATL.
