from Wikipedia, the different story lines:
"A Dame to Kill For"

"Just Another Saturday Night"
On the night John Hartigan meets back up with Nancy in "That Yellow Bastard", Marv (Mickey Rourke) regains consciousness on a highway overlooking the Projects, surrounded by dead young men, unable to remember how he got there.
"The Long Bad Night" (original story)
Johnny (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a cocky gambler, disguises a darker mission to destroy the biggest villain in Sin City at his own game. He beats the wrong guy and things take a very bad turn for him. Along the way, he meets a young stripper named Marcy (Julia Garner).
Untitled original story
Set after Hartigan's (Bruce Willis) suicide at the end of "That Yellow Bastard", this story will center around Nancy (Jessica Alba) trying to cope with his death.

+ Rourke. Has to be a prequel.
ETA: Although with Alba in it, Willis's character would have been in jail, so dunno.

I watched the Recut version of the First last weekend. I can't wait for this one but like someone said, where the hell is Clive Owen.

if you remember in the first one, brittany murphy mentions how dwight (clive owen) had facial surgery and she barely recognized him.
this story takes place while he had his old face, so brolin is now dwight.

Are we sure about it being a prequal?
The Nancy story is set after Willis's suicide.
