Ouch.

To me that's a bit odd considering who really expected much of anything out of Owen? I can't imagine they were paying him big wages.
A guy like Junior Hoilett was a far bigger disappointment in my opinion.

Hard to argue with much of that

Freebies should be excluded imo

Still counts as a signing.

Probably heavily dependent upon appearances like his United contract

Thought the Scott Sinclair move to City was dumb then and looks even dumber now. Guess he got paid though
quote:
For the record, Sinclair played no minutes of league football in October, February or May, 12 in January, 13 in March, 14 in April and 15 each in November and December. Over seven-and-a-half months, that amounts to 69 minutes on the pitch.

Yeah, that's what I would assume and another reason why I was surprised to see him in there. There were no expectations really.
Other than that it's a pretty decent list. Vertonghen could have been a top five best signing, maybe Dembele (bit injury prone), Mirallas (same). Maybe Adebayor in the worst signing group although he played reasonably well towards the end of the season.

If my math is correct, that means he played less than 2 percent in City's matches this season and netted $2,240,868 in the process.
That means he earned close to $500 per match minute for City, and he spent most of that sitting on the sidelines.
If my math is correct, which could be very wrong.

cazorla's omission makes me question the whole list
Posted on 5/21/13 at 12:55 pm to Friend of OBUDan
I guess it was because of Cazorla's transfer fee.

Hard to argue against anyone on the list, but Coutinho has to be in the discussion. Since the other players, played a whole season compared to his half... I can't argue.

forgot about him but I can't see anybody in that top five that looks really out of place. There are just a lot of good options for best signing.

I guess his inclusion of Owen is because that was the striker they signed after finishing last or close to it in goals scored last season.

yeah I was more poking fun at his comment yesterday. I don't have any real problem with this list.
michu only played for half the season too so coutinho should get consideration :P
