I will admit I was a bit dubious of the Pelicans name when I heard it, especially compared to some of the alternatives. But the more I thought about it, the more I liked it (especially compared to some of the stinkers that other NBA teams have). And then when I saw the logos I was completely sold. Excellent work on those logos IMO.

And you know what, I'll consider Charlotte Hornets top ten names and top ten logos as well.

Improvement all around!

what I like about it is that it's a tangible thing (unlike say Heat) that has local flare (unlike Utah Jazz or Los Angeles Lakers)

you can watch a Pelican fly and dive... you can see a Hornet and hear it buzz by you

it's something the people the team owner is trying to sell to can identify with and get excited about
