Saints very quietly building a sound defense

I shouldn't have been on ESPN(The Nationally Accredited BleacherReport) so guess that was my fault for reading their "blog" doing my hourly internet browse on Saints news when I noticed that Pat Yasinskas did one of his typical digs at the Saints and our defense. I know this guy is a lazy idiot so what he says doesn't bother me...however it got me thinking about our D and how we would look this year.
Veteran Leadership
DE Will Smith 2004 All Rookie/2006 Pro Bowl/2009 Honorable Mention All Pro

Probowl Caliber
DE Cameron Jordan 8 Sacks/2012
LB Curtis Lofton 123 Combined Tackles/82 solo/2012
CB Jabari Greer good corners dont put up stats usually
Solid Pros
DT Brodrick Bunkley had more Sacks and Tackles in 2012 than Sederick Ellis has in 2011 and 2012 combined
LB David Hawthorne 2009-2011 had over 100 total tackles all three years

Young Promising Talent
DT John Jenkins
DE Akiem Hicks

just looking at it i think our D will be top 20...if Malcom Jenkins and Patrick Robinson step up...this defense could be scary good.

I'll believe it when I see it, but until then I think all criticism is fair. Last year's squad was pretty tough to watch.

At first I felt that way...then I realized I had Cam Newton, Jamaal Charles, Alfred Morris, Doug Martin, and several other Saint killers on my fantasy team...it helped me cope as I won my league.

I'm being completely serious when I say that nobody cares about your FF league.

I agree I hate it when saints fans are ok when their fantasy football players tear our d a new one.

how else are you suppose to cope with a historically awful defense
a suspended head coach, LB coach, GM
an 0-4 start
alcohol...drugs...

somebody tank this thread...it was meant to talk about the defense...then somehow a fantasy football joke starts to dominate the discussion... blah blah blah no enthusiasm here gotcha.

You're the one who brought up FF. Who was your QB? Do you even PPR bro?

What gets me is when people assume the defense is gonna suck because it sucked last year. Look at every teams defensive statistics year by year and, with the exception of a few teams consistently in the top 5, almost every team fluctuates considerably from one year to the next.

The most important thing is the players. The second most important thing is using the players to their strengths, which we didn't do last year.
We've brought in competition at nearly every position on defense, outside of Lofton and Jordan's spot. Those are really the only two starters from last year I consider safe to keep their jobs.

We MIGHT have been good.
Unfortunately, Vaccaro is another Jenkins/ Robinson.
