Carmelo isn't overrated as an offensively skilled player because he can single handedly take over games. But he is overrated in that it's hard to build a championship team around him because he doesn't really make his teammates better.
You basically have to surround him with other isolation-type players because he doesn't garner the type of attention defensively like a Lebron or a Durant, and he doesn't really make the correct basketball play when he does get that kind of attention.

and his teams weren't bad either

I'm not responding to you, just in general...I think people have a hard time differentiating how talented a guy is with how good a player he is.
Carmelo is one of the most talented players in the league, but he's not one of the best, and he's definitely overrated IMO.

quote:plus Chalmers, Haslem, Q Rich...I'm not saying the team was good, but for as big a Superstar as Wade is labeled, you'd think he could do better than getting beat in the first round every time he doesn't have another HoF player

Rudy Gay is one of the most extreme examples of this disparity.

What did MJ ever do without Scottie?
Bird and Magic without the 5 or so HOFers they played with?

there's a reason they played them in the first round

And if you don't think Wade "proved what he can do", I'm not sure what to tell you. His production speaks for itself. You building up Q/Rookie Chalmers/Haslem doesn't really help your cause.

Because Wade had a subpar supporting cast?
ETA: Charlotte and Washington are in that division, how awful

Is he overrated?

well this is an overrated player thread and since Wade is hyped as a Superstar, I think a true superstar would have managed better with the supporting cast
