If you husband is a computer scientist and doesn't want to program then he is in the wrong line of work.

I'm hiring a jr. linux administrator if he has linux skills but if he is that whiny about programming, then I don't know if I'd want him since unix administration of mostly programming scripts to automate your work.

I understand this point but it isn't exactly accurate. He has over 15 years experience, a Master's degree, some Doctorate work and he teachings programming for 2 online universities (part time) yet did very little programming at the hospital. He was sorta a "jack of all trades" in his position and worked under tight budget constraints. And he isn't whiny (I assure you) but he is particular about his work. He wants to be challenged and says programming is mundane...
