Read through some of the comments, this is from October... Could the U.S. Have Sent a Rescue Force to Libya?

quote:

“British sources on the ground in Benghazi said they are extremely frustrated by the attack and are still wondering why they weren't called for help. “We have more people on the ground here than the Americans and I just don't know why we didn't get the call?" one said.”

quote:

The idea that there are "chemical sites" sure is encouraging. The only fact is that we had F-126s at Aviano that could have gotten there prior to Ty and Glen being killed. The idea of asking British forces for help is really interesting. Sounds like something that the Embassy should have thought of. Since the Brits closed their Benghazi consulate two months before, and their Ambassador's convoy had been attacked shortly before that; why were there British forces (SBS or SAS) in Benghazi? Why do these stories repeatedly refer to F-18s? There were no carries capable of supporting F-18s in the Med and why would F-18s be sitting at Rota or Sigonella (both Navy joint base)? Why would anyone refer to Turkey as a United Nations ally when there is no such thing and they are our NATO allies? Everybody is ignoring AFRICOM's joint base at Djibouti. That base is packed with SOCOM troops and aircraft and 4 hours away.

quote:

“British intelligence sources said that unarmed drones routinely flew over Benghazi every night in flight patterns and that armed drones which fly over chemical sites, some a short flight from Benghazi, "were always said to be on call." American sources confirmed this and questioned "why was a drone armed only with a camera dispatched?"

It has hit the news circuit yet televised CNN and others were talking about everything but this. I wonder if the UK paper gives more insight? It seems like the lawyers for the whistle blowers are being careful in not letting the whole kit and kaboodle out at once?
