I think you are discounting Bosh too much.
He is a top 5 PF in the league. His numbers aren't what they'd be if he was on a number of different teams, but the talent and ability are there if he was needed to contribute much more than he currently does.
Definitely, he put up much better numbers while leading the Raptors to the lottery for years.

The loss of Manning was exacerbated by no depth at QB. They basically went from Manning to a scout team QB.
This explains part of the value.

Then he can have Most Irreplaceable Player....
Although, I had to replace his arse on my fantasy team and still destroyed the league.

The point is these awards are all nonsense.

That has nothing to do with how the heat would do with him and wade leading the team. The heat are player for player head and shoulders above the Bosh-led Raptors teams.

It has everything to do with his ability to lead a team.

Like arguing what two teams might do without two of the best players alive.

But wade would be the leader. You can argue all day that he has injury issues and that's fair. But to say an 82 game season would require Bosh to be "the guy" on that team is just as foolish as saying that wade wouldn't get injured.

Same thing?

There is actually a pretty good article about the nonsense of that MVP vote. Give me a few to find it.

How so?
To begin with, we're talking about opinions evaluating players' value to their respective teams.
quote:
If we are basing MVP off who is the best player in the league this past season
I am not and neither is the Boston writer who voted for Melo.
quote:
If we are basing MVP off of who was more important to their specific team it still lebron, with arguments for maybe being CP3 or Durant.
Well, shite holmes, clearly you should have the deciding vote. It would save the league time and effort.
quote:
Melo shouldn't be the MVP any way you slice it.
Except there's that little fact that, for as big an a-hole as he may be, if not for him and his scoring the Knicks wouldn't have sniffed the playoffs. He fricking carried that team in the second half of the season.
In any event, depending upon how you choose to measure MVP, there are different opinions and in no way is that writer's opinion "stupid". In the interview he gave, he definitely made a case for his vote. He acknowledged that LeBron and Durant were the two best players in the league.

Take Lebron off Mia and they still make the playoffs in the East. Can you say the same for Melo and the Knicks?
ETA: If I did have a vote, I'd vote for Lebron, but Melo getting a vote isn't absurd.
A very reasonable post. I realize that we're not as smart as Jester and JohnnyKilroy, but I like myself anyway.

Then he is MVP of his team, not the league. Do you really believe Lebron couldn't bring that Knicks team to the playoffs? That is where the argument fails.
Posted on 5/6/13 at 7:19 pm to Jester
You're a lawyer, I'll humor you with a clear yes/no question:
If Lebron took Carmelo's place, would the Knicks still make the playoffs?
If Lebron took Carmelo's place, would the Knicks still make the playoffs?

Your logic, in the most literal sense, fails. There may be several players in the league that could replace Melo and lead them to the playoffs. That truism establishes nothing, really. There are players who could replace LeBron in the Heat lineup and they would still make the playoffs.
And, besides, the voting is based upon the actual rosters this season.

No. That's irrelevant.

Correct. So you acknowledge that a rational argument can be made for the Boston writer. Good.

It's directly relevant and obvious. If Carmelo is more valuable, he would take the Knicks further than Lebron would. Do you think he would?

CP3 and Durant objectively meant more to their teams than Melo. You can look at WS, WS/48,+/-, etc... Those two have melo beat in just about all those categories.
Lebron lead the league in all those categories btw. Lebron had more than double the amount of WS as Melo. He had the fifth highest Win Shares in NBA history. More than any season MJ had.

The Knicks outscored their opponents when Melo was off the floor.
