I'm an optimist so maybe they'll have a change of heart. In many ways they already have.
The main arguments went from "No intrinsic value" to "the government will not allow it".

Oh no doubt. Most of them have evolved their arguments substantially since I started discussing bitcoin here.

And those will change again once they see that governments either aren't doing anything or aren't succeeding at doing anything.

world changing technology
Here's a list of world changing technologies that began the start of Kondratieff waves.
1771 - Industrial Revolution
1829 - Steam Engines
1875 - Heavy Machinery and Steel
1908 - Electricity, Autos, Oil, and Mass Production
1971 - Telecom and IT
Calm down with "world changing".

The first on the list isn't a technology.
Plus you left off the development of the printing press.
And yes, the "true believers" believe it will be every bit as "world changing" as those things (It being cryptographic currency).

Didn't Jim Jones have "true believers" too?

So can you and wiki list your last 5 purchases with bitcoins? Or are you both still holding out for the iPhone 6?

Are you kidding? It was the culmination of a broad range of technological advancements from textile manufacturing to chemicals.

Then by all means keep believing in it. Just please don't try to discredit anybody else's contrary views either when everything you've studied and believe in is very one-sided.

The bitcoin will have an effect on society equal to that of the printing press?
Jesus, you are young.
Jesus, you are young.

Hang on, did I miss the thread where someone demonstrated the intrinsic value of bitcoin?

This is like saying the record labels weren't doing anything or weren't succeeding at doing anything back before Napster. Yes music piracy still exists, but the same people are the gate keepers, there's just a few more holes in the gate than there used to be. Bitcoin isn't a technology, it's a brand, and if it gains enough traction the established players will come out with a competing product that's more favorable to them. Bitcoin may move the goal posts, but it probably won't change the game.

Are you saying the Industrial Revolution was a technology?
If so you can just lump crypto-currency in with the "Internet Revolution".

Yes, I am young. My whole life I've lived with that thing called the "internet". I've already lived with one societal equal to the printing press and I'll likely live through a few more.

I don't really know what to tell you. It was an aggregation of a multitude of technological advancements across a huge amount of studies. If you can't recognize all the developments in technology during the time period you should probably go study them.

If that's the way you want to think about it then by all means, go ahead.
