They were a very good team with one of, if not the most athletic Center of all time.

Half the people in this thread are calling you obsessed and the other half are laughing at the topic. Well done, Okie.

Yes because wanting a particular team to win the finals = being a fan of that team.

I was born in Houston and pulled hard for those Hakeem-lead teams to win.
This would not make you a fan? That's a fan imo

We moved when I was 2.
And I merely wanted them to win the Finals once they got there. Pretty simple really.
Wouldn't have any reason to pull for a NY team or a Florida team.

i dont think it tarnishes it, obviously i think the bulls would have won 8 straight had mj been there... but he wasnt. The same could be said for teams when other teams star player gets hurt and another team wins the championship. you can always have an discussion on "if"

He showed up in late March. Would have been different if he had played the entire year. Even the great one himself can't get into basketball-playing shape that fast.
He was playing another professional sport. He was still in shape and practicing with the team. His numbers were higher in the playoffs in 95 than they were in 96 (and 1990 for that matter). He was playing really well. Jordan was back regardless of the number on his jersey. That team just wasn't that good.

Another way to ask this: Would the Bulls have won 8 in a row if Jordan never retires?
They win 94, they lose players in contract negotiations in that off-season, they suck even worse as a team in 95 while also putting the second three-peat in jeopardy.
But let's assume we aren't in the real world where money, attitudes, momentum, murders, and salary caps matter: If so - they win 94, lose in 95 to the magic...bc they did, win 96 and 97 and lose in 98.
Why do they lose in 98? Because Jordan has another 1.5 years of games on his knees which were going bad. So they still end up with 6.
