Undrafted Tigers get free agent deals

Ford, Wing and the others that did not get drafted gets free agent deals with some NFL teams. What does this mean. Are they on a scout team. Will they get paid fairly well. Will they see any playing time. Please fill me in.

it all depends on how they do before the season starts. once they get the roster down to the limit, they are allowed to make a practice squad that makes a weekly paycheck. but you are only allowed to be on this squad for 2 years. you cant make a career out of practice squad. you can earn a third year of practice squad if you dont see the field, or only make a roster for less than 6 games?
but you are still a free agent while on practice squad.

Is that 2 years per team? Or in general?

total.
as a scout squad member, you are not a member of any team. you are part of an 8 man roster that is paid and selected week to week. they might not need you for week 8, but they do for week 9. you might go to 3 different teams in one season. complete free agent, but the weekly pay is the same across all teams. the third year thing is tricky, i think its just meant for the qbs since they forced 3rd string qbs to scout squad.

Most should have stayed for another year of school...especially Ford and Ware given the situation now with Hill. Faulk had to have known his draft stock was not too high and another year in school would not have hurt....Wing is another story.

I hope Wing gets cut honestly. Such potential and talent and didn't want to be anything but be a punter. Lazy sob

So they should have anticipated Jeremy Hill was going to be arrested and said let me forget about what I think is best for me and stay another year b/c of Hill's stupidity? Gotcha

Bs statement, kid didn't like going to university, but sadly that's about the only way into the NFL. Not everyone is cut out for school...

Thirteen NFL players in last year's Pro Bowl entered the league as free agents. There is no limit to how successful a free agent can be. Kurt Warner was an undrafted free agent from Northern Iowa. He went on to win two NFL MVP awards, win a Super Bowl and Super Bowl MVP. Our undrafted guys could be just as successful as those drafted. They just have to be hungry, humble and motivated. And perhaps a little lucky by being on a team where an opportunity opens up for their position.
OH, and of course, DON'T GET ARRESTED for some stupid criminal behavior!

Sad that what Wing will always be remembered for is a TD that got called back because of a stupid-arse penalty

Last year, 37 percent of the 622 undrafted rookies signed by the 32 franchises won Week One jobs, either on the practice squad (131) or the 53-man roster (98). Per a source with knowledge of the numbers, the Rams led the way in 2012 with seven on the active roster. The Texans, Seahawks, and Vikings had none.
As the 2013 draft approaches, the NFL is urging agents to maximize the signing bonuses and guaranteed money the undrafted players receive. Last year, undrafted rookies obtained an average signing bonus of $4,268. The average guarantee per player was $5,733.
So well paid, obviously not! If they actually make a team then I would assume they would then renegotiate a contract which would be on the low end of the Salary Cap. Playing time would be up to the coach just like every other player.

According to a previous thread bout Wing, he did not interview well at all, with one NFL scout calling him a fraud & a con. Followed up by saying Wing's more interested in being famous as opposed to be a team player. Another said Wing won't be able to handle any NFL big city environment with his poor attitude & history of issues. None of this has anything to do with him not liking school.
