There are several good DTs in state that have not yet been offered. When do they get offered and who does the staff have at the top of their board?

Yeah, that would be a good fit. They're high on a number of DEs that could slide over, and he would be one that could do that.
Who else? Will Godchaux and McDowell get offers soon? With the talent that LSU is recruiting nationally at just about every other position, I can see holding off on offering (like with Sims at WR), but I don't see any OOS DTs that we lead for, unless I missed something.
Sorry if Germans

Part of the reason for the question. He's one of the top D linemen in the state and there really aren't any higher rated OOS prospects that I'm aware of who have LSU at the top of their list.

good chance we will this summer when if he has a great showing at camp.
its obvious that he's waiting on our offer and knows he has to camp. he know's whats his situation

Yesterday they offered Lamont Gaillard
Lamont Gaillard:
Sonny247 Sonny Shipp
RT @PaulGStrelow: #LSU the latest to offer Pine Forest (N.C.) DT Lamont Gaillard.
Here is a link to 247's Composite DT Rankings for 2014.
Most of the guys are pretty far east of LSU. The two closest highly ranked guys are the two from Arkansas that LSU never offered.

FWIW, Gerrald McDowell recently got a 4-Star bump on 247 and he's ranked even higher on composite.
Big teams to offer McDowell include Arky, Florida, Bama (?), USC, Texas, and now Oklahoma

DT is the most perplexing position this recruiting cycle by far. Part of it is the fact that a couple of the DE offers are guys that will likely slide inside(Willis, perhaps Clark etc). As far as true DTs, Chinese gave the list. Valentine is the only one we really have a shot with and he is one of those game players so I take nothing he says as truth. Johnny Dwight from GA is the one to watch. Gaillard is a guy I'd love to land but they may depend on him visiting and how UGA does in DT recruiting instate.
As for the instate crop, I still have no clue as to why Godchaux doesn't have an offer. The kid has shown the drive to improve academically and has comparable talent to the others we've offered. He's a swing guy as well and I think he will be offered but I also thought he would be by now so who knows.
McDowell is all about bulk. He's too small right now and doesn't look to have the frame to add enough. It's even been said that the staff is projecting him at DE right now. If that's the case then I understand why he hasn't been offered. Does he fit our scheme at DE? I don't know especially when Willis, Clark and Godchaux are all the same type of players as a DE.
The Smith kid is the one to watch but he has lots to do academically. Huge kid that moves well
Don't know enough about Joyan Williams to say yea or nay. All those kids will work themselves out at camp

Godchaux will be a DT in college imo

Agree. Just laying out the possibilities and he's a swing guy to me that may start outside and then slide down. Reminds me of Lacouture and moreso Lavar Edwards. Slightly undersized inside but with the strength, drive and athleticism to make plays inside even if just in spurts. Type of guy you want in your DL rotation. I say offer the kid and see what happens. If the grades don't work out then move on at a later date like we've done with kids before.

you think we will get Deondre and GW III, Thorton or Godchaux or Johnny Dwight or Valentine
