A friend of mine and I just booked a trip during the fall to visit Chicago.

I knew this place could give me some great tips. Do any of you have any advice about where to go to get the best pizza in Chicago? Feel free to share personal experiences... I'm excited!

Thanks threeputt

ETA: Ironically enough, we're going to be visiting Chicago while on a road trip to watch Notre Dame play BYU. We like to visit one or two new stadiums a year. Notre Dame got the call this year.

I personally like Gino's East the best, but have heard Lou Malnati's is top notch as well. Portillo's is a cool, cheap place. A good lunch spot is Big Al's. If you want a really nice night out, go drink at the top of the Hancock Building. You can see the entire city and at night it's pretty awesome. Are you staying in the Magnificent Mile area? One of the more popular places is the rooftop bar on top of TheWit hotel. Drink some goose island. Matilda is my favorite but Sophie is also popular. The L is fairly easy to learn. Have fun

I had Giordano's back in October when I was up there and thought it was good.

Thanks for the insight! We are staying at The James, which is in the Magnificent Mile area. I don't know anything about the layout of Chicago, though...

I've read some decent reviews of Giordano's. Do you remember what kind of pizza you had?

Not pizza, but I have a friend that went to ND that talks up the Purple Pig all the time.

I've heard they are solid.

Tuscaloosa: If you go to Uno, make sure it's the original. You can catch the L, a cab, or take a bus anywhere in the city. Being in the area you are, you can walk to a ton of places, too. I'd recommend the L for other places if you can since it's 2.25 each way. It's a pretty easy city to navigate after a couple of days. Don't be fooled, though. Chicago can get very hot even though it's not in the South

Not sure about pizza, but I can tell you the Chicago cut Ribeye at rosebud steakhouse behind the Drake hotel is the best steak I have ever eaten.
I've been to quite a bit of prime steakhouses around the country and that steak is the best I've had

Just went with the Chicago Classic stuffed pizza. I liked being able to order the pizza before sitting down since it takes forever to cook them.

I'll second this motion. It's an institution in Chicago. I also recommend Big Al's. They serve a legendary "sangwich."
Another unique dining experience is Ed Debevik's. The waiters are intentionally rude, they'll throw rolls at you, etc.

One thing to keep in mind is that you are completely useless after eating a deep dish, chicago style pizza

Liked Uno & Ginos East . Both very good. You will have some down time after eating and swilling a few beers!

Peaquods and it's not even close. Lived up there for a while and have tried many pizza spots. And peaquods is the best I've had ever, anywhere
