Based on Louisiana's justifiable homicide statute (RS 14:20), your position, and those posted by others should have merit.
But there was a very similar case in Rayville a couple of years ago .. in that case it was the ex-wife who barged in, after driving through the front yard up to the front steps, and attacked the "new" wife. Hubby grabbed a rifle and shot the former wife.
Hubby was convicted of murder, and is in prison. He appealed and lost (La. Second Circuit Court of Appeals).
The Rayville case involved some fairly prominent families. Go figure.
