I'll be honest, if I was a reporter and was writing this article, as an LSU student, I would have left Blue's quote out.

Look what is wrong with saying your opinion. What the gays can say anything but players can't. What happen to freedom of speech? Players come to Lsu to play ball and make it to the NFL. I'm sure UCLA will lose recruits over there coach wanting gay players.
I agree with Alfred Blue and look like the NFL players and organizations agree with him too. Asked Brendon Ayanbadejo who was cut by the Ravens.

Granted, this kind of quote makes adults cringe in our society, as we're all conditioned to react that way.
It was a college kid answering a question, probably out of the blue (no pun intended) from another college kid. He answered the way he felt and it wasn't laced with PC or aided by media coaching.
Oh well. Too much honesty, people don't want to hear opposing views. He didn't say anything hateful, but I'm sure it will be projected that way.

Not even sure where to begin with this one.

That speaks for itself, you don't need to touch it

It bothers me that you feel so casually about lying publicly to people. He could have just said "Sorry, but I'd rather not comment on such a controversial topic" but he may have had it with the PC culture that's so ever-present in universities, including LSU. He's also an athlete and probably not as tactful as say, an attorney or even a politician would be. Why was this seen as an appropriate question to even ask an athlete?

Could have just kept his mouth shut instead of going all Charles Barkley on us.

This is the worst comment in the whole thread. And the most ironic.

quote:I think the point some people are trying to make is Blue is ignorant and not a true Tiger. You should respect a teammate for the three letter on the side of the helmet. And if that teammate bleeds, sweats, and gives his all for those three letters, it shouldn't matter his sexual orientation. At least that's how a true LSU tiger should feel.
So we lose out on a couple of gay recruits then
