You think normal restaurants pay a livable wage to the average kitchen worker? $7.25/hr is what a taco bell worker is going to make. Your average kitchen worker probably makes $8 or $9/hr

It's a reflection of that society, and what they value.
No, there isn't much difference, and the food reflects it.
