I put quotations around the word "missing" because I didn't know how else to word it in the title. I have always called these types of deer "fonky horn" deer. I explained in the first post that it appeared to be a vertical point, which to me indicates that it wasn't broken off.

If this would have been on public land, I would have given it more thought. I never really considered harvesting the deer because there is a good chance he has great genetics. This would have been the biggest deer I ever killed if it was anything remotely close to symmetrical.

I understand. I just say cull for my previously stated reasons. This too would be my largest deer, by far. However, I find little reason to keep him and risk losing him or it being bad genetics.

If that is the only two pics I had of him I would wait and try to get better pics this coming season. If he grows another set just like this and you have pics of this before the fighting begins then shoot him with a quickness. Keep these pics and compare to next year and you may find that you have a wall hanger on your hands because you waited and didnt kill him.
