He made over 8 million dollars. not spending like a jackass and opening up a business like he has, 8 million would be enough for me to retire on.

I think the problem here is people's definition of "retire". If he has $2m-$3m of fairly liquid captial, he can put that to work and "retire" while probably getting a pretty easy six-figure coaching job.
