I'll loan Arsene an extra £ or ten to push it through. I want interest though

Looks like Darren Bent probably headed to Newcastle. Fulham was cool on the fee, but sounds like they are balking at his wage demands.

according to the beeb, Suarez wants to hold talks with arsenal. guardiola/his camp interprets the clause differently than 'pool.
also, Higuain to Napoli is done. we'll know soon enough if Real is interested in him.

I *think* the clause may allow him to hold talks... but I interpret our owner's tweet as... Arsenal (or anyone) will have to stump up way more than £40mm + 1mm...
Sky also reported this morning that Guardiola has informed the club Suarez wants to play CL football this year, but he won't force a move...

Who is this Guardiola dude? I assume we're not talking about pep here.

I think Peps brother is his agent.

Pep's brother is Suarez's agent.
TFTC, i'm curious if that was a hack (or if Henry claims it's a hack) or if he owns up to it. pretty crazy IMO. i was kind of shocked when i saw it this morning while catching up on twitter. cheeky bid, but if the clause in question says "more than £40m" does something, certainly seems reasonable to at least see what happens when the clause is triggered.
we're not going to pay more than Cavani money for him (he isn't worth it and we should be made to pay for oil money Ligue 1 crazies), so our best bet is working out an agreement with Suarez and him pushing it through.
will be interesting to see what RM does. a lot of the chatter has said they either don't value Suarez nearly high enough or they aren't interested at all or he's a backup option if they don't get Bale because they don't have enough money for both.
in one sense, it can afford to stretch on because of his suspension. in the other sense, if we get him, i'd like for him to be acclimated by practicing with the team. plus we have some CL matches he could play in.

The only annoying thing for me in this whole saga has been BR's view that they deserve "Cavani money," as if what PSG payed for Cavani was warranted. I think Suarez's REAL value is greater than Cavani's, but PSG had to pay big money for Cavani because of his release clause, not because that was actually his value.

From all accounts so far, that is a real tweet by Henry...
Again, I think the bar is set with Falcao and Cavani both going for at least £50mm.. Suarez is easily in their class... and although those 2 were bought with Ligue 1 oil money, I think the valuation is warranted in that we would be selling a direct competitor for a CL spot next season... Not to mention we DO NOT want to sell to anyone, so I think only a huge sum will force our hand...

Y'all have the upper hand for sure. Maybe that is Suarez's valuation given the current market and current positions of the two teams, but I think the Cavani comparison is still dumb. Cavani's not actually worth that much.

saying Cavani's sale sets the bar for Suarez is like saying because Andy Carroll went for £35m, that sets the bar for other English strikers. completely devoid of any context.

Question... Lets say we stand firm with out valuation, would you be ok with £40mm + Walcott? Less cash? different player?
The only three players I'd be interested in are Theo, Santi or Jack (I think he's the most "untouchable" of the 3)

the interesting thing to me is, obviously 'Pool will want more from someone in the EPL, but his value is less in the EPL due to his history with the FA. any little thing he does from here on out could lead to suspensions.

no. 1) we aren't giving up anybody. 2) Theo's value, particularly considering home grown rules, is at least £20m. Suarez isn't worth that much.
