to me, that's a lot of freaking money. and it seems like y'all go through these components pretty quickly when upgrading. especially each year when the latest and greatest new item comes out. i get the impression that you guys are building 2-3 computers a year.

Not me, I'm still running a 4770k o/c to 4ghz and Radeon 7950 boost

But now building a new computer once all the new AMD stuff hits the market. IMO though spending a bit extra just means it will last that much longer.

I'm a very casual gamer, so I dont feel the need to upgrade my rig but maybe once every 5 years or so, and I usually just upgrade the whole thing unless I find a great deal on a graphics card along the way or something. That rig I have now is still very capable. I can easily game at 1080p using a Radeon 7950 boost.

That's why I bought my 8700K. It should last a very long time. Not to mention I got it for a steal at the time at $300.

I did so good with pricing on all my stuff that I'm not sure I'll match the price to performance for awhile.

8700k - 300
ASRock Extreme 4 - 80
G skill 3200Mhz 16GB - 140 (Def can get better than that now)
EVGA GTX 1080 FTW - 400
EVGA 650W Gold fully modular - 40
Meshify C case - 60
Intel 760P 500GB - 50
Toshiba 3TB - 50
