Do y'all have any experience with EVGA motherboards?
I saw some EVGA RAM at Microcenter too. That was interesting.

If I still cared about benching, then EVGA would be first choice. Not saying you should just purchase them just for that use case. I just rather stick with the companies who have more experienc. So MSI and ASUS are always first choice as the everyday MOBO.

That EVGA board should be great. Just stay away from anything not MSI, ASUS, EVGA, ASRock and Gigabyte.

She married?

What are you running in the rig these days? Don't remember if you ever upgraded to Pascal. I know you are rather fond of Classys.

7700k with GTX1080's in SLI.

Not married and not sure if she will. She seems content. She got her masters in education and is teaching in Fairfax County. Could be a great career for her as there aren't many counties better to teach in than Fairfax.

I have a 3470, 2x8gb ram, ITX case and SFX PSU.

I don't need another HTPC, but I feel like I could grab a cheapo H61 ITX board for like $60 and find a cheap video card for $100 to throw it in my room. Only thing is I'd want to keep it in my closet and run an HDMI cable through the wall to my TV

Jesus. Such old tech, that is the worst part. I'm going on 2yrs this summer with my Big Pascals with Little Pascal being older!

Time for new arch, esp with fewer games launching with SLi support.

Edt: My phone is running slow in the browser. I'm fckking paranoid thinking everything is compromised running mining scripts.

Yeah

Edt: imo the price is still high for old Pascal. It has been out for a few years now. By this time we would have received something new. We still might but rumors have it pushed back to the end of summer.

It is a hard price to pay IMO for something so old. You will have 3-6 months of good driver updates until the next architecture drops. It's not the death of the card but driver support is a huge factor of why I buy new cards right when new architecture drops. I buying into that 1.5-2yrs of 1st in line support.

Not saying I wouldn't buy if in need but it is one of those hard pills to swallow imo.

Trying to remember where I read about the new card coming out but they are guessing that the prices will be absurdly high upon release due to mining
