because its a pain in the arse. some idiot bought a $400 gateway from walmart, gets home, decides he hates windows 8
then went and bought a copy of windows 7 for $130 at frys or some damn where and tries to install it himself.
now he has a $530 paperweight with a formatted hard drive because W7 wont fricking install. it will get to the original W7 desktop ONCE, but after you reboot it will never get back. goes into boot loop and i feel like i have changed every possible bios setting and flashed the bios to the W7 version directly from the gateway website.
lets say i get this thing working - how much can i possibly charge him? not enough for all the effort, thats for sure. dude will be at least $600 into a A6 APU machine

Stout, you think I could get $150 for my 7870?
Posted on 8/6/13 at 10:09 am to Mr Gardoki
$140 after shipping probably. That's after this Newegg deal ends. I will let you know what mine sales for.

If anyone needs a PSU, I have a Cooler Master 620W Silent Pro I'm looking to get rid of. It is partially modular. Don't want much for it...like $20 and shipping or something. Maybe trade. Hell if I'm in a good mood I'll just charge shipping . It works fine, I bought it in December but I got an AX850 a while back and have been using it.
Also, anyone have any experience with aftermarket GPU coolers? I don't really have the money to dive into building a full loop yet but I feel like I need SOMETHING better than what is on my 660tis now that I have them in SLI. I've been looking at the Arctic Twin Turbo but I was wanting some opinions first.
ETA:
If it'll help you sell that GPU, you can have that PSU if you'll just cover shipping.

That 7970 I bought had one on it and it was doing a worse job cooling than the stock cooler so I took it off.
Zalman makes some good looking GPU coolers.

It CAN'T be worse than what I've got. It is the reference GTX660ti. This isn't the exact card but that's the same cooler.

ahh the old axial vs blower debate

I feel like it did a decent enough job before, but now that I have 2 cards IDK if it will move enough air to the 1st card to offset the extra heat radiating off the 2nd.
It may not make a bit of difference, but I'm anal

I lol'ed at the difference in CPU coolers. The stock one looked like something my Cooler Master would eat.

i believe the logic goes:
big open case = axial
cramped case = blower

Yea those are horrible coolers.
I know a lot of those after market coolers come with the aluminum heat fins for the vram but if I were you I would spend some extra and find copper ones. Copper just conducts heat so much better and will be much more efficient at cooling the vram. That's why I got this card so cheap. It would BSOD due to the vram getting too hot because that aluminum wasn't doing shite.

It's not a big jump but I really want a 760 for some reason
Posted on 8/6/13 at 10:44 am to Mr Gardoki
760 will get better with new drivers
Posted on 8/6/13 at 10:47 am to Mr Gardoki
if i had held off a tad longer i would have bought a 760 over the 7950 boost i ended up with
