When did you decide to leave the paradise of AP and venture across the border to the big city of BR??
I kid. I had some for happy hour on a Friday that were small and then I went for lunch the next day and paid full price and they were huge. Then the next day I had some for happy hour they were small again. Coincidence?? I think not. I've noticed this occurrence a few times in the past.
I wouldn't post up trolling bullshite just to flame up the infallible F&D board.

I am a regular customer of Chimes. I go three to four times a week. Know all the bartenders and shuckers pretty well. I have never seen such practices of choosing small oysters during happy hour. I have sat right in front of the shuckers an a many occasion and its just chance of the grab. IT maybe true but I just don't see it. In fact i'll be there this afternoon with friends, i'll keep an eye out for curiosity sake to see if they do grade them. One thing I do wish they did was put oysters on an ice bed on the tray.
And by the way I grew up in BR about a mile from Chimes East as the crow flies.. Probably lived there longer than you have unfortunately.

Chimes are always good no matter when you get them. I got these monsters last time during happy hour:

No worries dude. Just posting an observation. And regardless of size they have the best in town.

The time before during happy hour I got this one...literally the largest oyster I've seen in my life. It was the size of my hand.

They don't....or they used to not(I'm sure they still don't as I still frequent Chimes East often).

Absolutely.
I know the owners discussed it at one point, but the money, mess/space, and extra work involved they decided against it.

Oh I'd still eat it. But my reaction trying to get that sucker down would probably make me look more like your prom date.

Yeah because they have specifically labeled sizes of oysters in different sacks for happy hour and non happy hour at chimes. Gtfo of here with that nonsense, I have shucked enough oysters over there to tell you that's false
