Get some MREs and break them down and tape together the stuff you will eat (crackers, main course, dessert). Throw the rest of the stuff away, you can easily tote around a couple of days worth of food without much weight.

An MRE barely weighs anything. They come in small little packets too. Why waste your time and probably space splitting it up? Why waste your time putting anything else in your bag. I have a couple of boxes and could probably go 2 months on those if I needed to

They are bulky and waste a lot of space. If you don't think they are heavy put 6 of them in your ruck and hump up and down mountains with a basic load of water and ammo. You will change your mind.
