Look at the pure joy on Bregman's and Rhymes' faces in this photo: (I was at the game and stuck it out to the (cold) end, and I was afraid the team was going to dogpile on top of Bregman.

It was the first time they showed emotion the entire game though... Northwestern St was excited for every out they got on LSU, and it was almost too business like for LSU until he got that hit. I think everyone was excited to congratulate the freshman.

Notice in the picture, who were the first ones to Bregman? The veterans. I think they wanted to pump up the new kid.

Well, baseball veterans always say baseball should be played without too much emotion. It's a game of failure...a batter who fails two-thirds of the time can still be an all star. If a baseball player gets caught up in his emotions, his performance will get worse, not better.

As far as NWS players being excited, this game is their defining moment every season. The know the last time LSU lost a mid-week game to an in state opponent it was to NWS. They want to be able to tell their grand kids one day that they played on the team that beat LSU.

To LSU players, it's just another mid-week game to try and improve for the "real" games, the SEC.
