true, but didn't my selection of K series, Z77, and aftermarket cooling indicate my intentions in that configuration? It's so easy to do a modest bump with this architecture without any increased voltage, so why not?

Dont get the Antec 300. That case is horrible.
Also go with a different SSD. Samsung 830, Sandisk Extreme, Kingston HyperX 3k and the vertex 4 are all faster

OP was on the fence between buying and building... i never, ever recommend a novice to do any manipulation at all to the CPU or GPU. they simply dont know what they are doing.
