There was push back with Obamacare. There will be push back if something like this was being passed. It won't stop the government. They'll continue to frick over the people.

In my lifetime, I've never seen pushback from the American Public like I saw in 2009-2010 over the Obamacare debate. Mass even elected a Republican to the Senate for Christ's sake.
You see where American pushback got us...
