They enter the post season with 30+ million to spend, plus a late 1st round pick. They have bird rights on Granger and Gasol. A great young core. I don't see how any of that is bad.
Demps probably has to look for more trades similar to proposed Gasol/Granger deals. There are no more assets other than cap space and expirings dont get the same return they used to. That is bad.
You could potentially lose 3 starters off a playoff team. That is bad.
You could potentially resign 3 guys on the wrong side of 30 to be key pieces around your 21 yo franchise player. That is bad.
I'm on board with getting a few more vets. They need some more experienced hands to steady the ship. I just don't know if two or three BIG moves like that make sense given Davis's youth and another top 5 pick coming this summer. And giving up on Anderson/Davis combo is just rash at this point. Their numbers have been much better post ASB.
I know everyone wants to win now, but this seems like going all in on that idea at the expense of the long term picture. To me, its a modified version of the Houston/CP3 trade.

I agree. We don't know quite where Davis is going, or who he will be. It's too early to definitively define his position/role.
