I fail to see how anyone is not pleasantly surprised by this season as a whole.
It's been so-so

Vasquez has been the best story, and although he didn't get as many minutes as he maybe should have, Davis hasn't disappointed, Anderson has been solid (although not too great lately) and Lopez has been better than expected.

The Gordon thing is really a black cloud over the franchise right now. I've said it before, this franchise is going to regret that signing for a long time. Should have just let him walk.

That and Rivers being as bad as he has been, and then getting hurt right as he seemed to be getting "it".

And then the worst part is Monty is really just not showing me much anymore. Bad sets, bad defense, the team as a whole just not seeming to play with as much fire.

All in all, the bad has begun to outweigh the good though, and that's very disappointing to me as a fan.

I agree with this

I wasn't sure what to thing when we matched his offer. Right now, it looks like we made a mistake. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not very confident. I certainly wouldn't mind a trade, but I have a hard time seeing someone trade for him with his injuries

I may be one of the few on here that is confident that Rivers will end up being a good player. Certainly he had a rough start, but he started figuring out what he did well as a player and was starting to show signs of a very solid improvement. I was pretty bummed when he got hurt

This is one of the things that confuses me. Last year we seemed to be much more competitive even though we were a worse team, and I think its because we lost solid leaders in Jack and Landry. Monty needs to do a better job of motivating players and getting someone to step up as a team leader. He also needs to improve his 4th quarter coaching, along with the offensive sets and perimeter defense

When you include all of that along with our lack of depth, this season hasn't been horrible. I think that we just had such unrealistic expectations at the beginning of the year that this season seems so bad.

People can say what they want about our future with Monty and Gordon, but I'm still optimistic about our future

To your earlier post, anyone that was predicting playoffs was being extremely optimistic- which is perfectly fine. Even with health, relying on a 19 year old rookie and 3 other first time starters was always going to be tough to overcome.

I think Monty does run good sets, just usually not in the final minutes for some unknown reason. He called a timeout and got an open corner 3 for Ryno with about 90 seconds left- shot was missed though. Then we got the clusterfrick for the last shot.

The defense has been awful: a good bit of that is poor talent (Lopez defending the PnR is vomit inducing) and then youth. But Monty's always been a little overrated as a defensive mastermind. His teams play so slow that their ppg is always going to look good. In 3 seasons, his defenses have been ranked 8th, 16th, and 27th in Defensive Efficiency according to NBA.com.

His scheme could use some tweaking- the Hornets give up the 3rd most corner 3s this season, the most last season, and 16th in 2010-2011. That needs to change,
