I'm definitely a Tiger fan and don't know many golfing buds who don't feel the same way. And while I know it's not right what he did (the cheating), I believe that way more golfers cheat than we believe...and I'll expand that to say pro athletes. It's just too easy to do, I'd imagine.
Put yourself in his situation...tons and tons of money, successful athlete, women at your beckon call...and all you have to do is say the word and they're there. Hell, one of my friends said the only thing Tiger did wrong was get caught.
I guess I overlook that stuff (which doesn't mean I condone it) and recognize what he's done in/for his profession. I mean, it's unparalleled. I can't think of any other athlete who's transcended their sport like him. The guy has won 27% of the tournaments he enters. Nicklaus ONLY won 17%, Sam Snead won 10%.
The only person I think that comes close is Michael Phelps, as far as redefining their sport.

I don't hate him, but know he is an arrogant prick and shitty husband and father.
His dad basically called him the new messiah and Tiger embraced it and look how the "god" fell.
Deservedly so and glad it happened.

i dont mind people that like tiger and i dont mind people that dont. i think it's all cool either way and you just made a good post.
what i do mind is this thread existing.
really? because you don't know? if i started a thread titled "why do people like tiger so much?" it would be just as bad of a question with just as many easy answers.

I agree THIS can be hard to do......... I lost a lot of respect for him with this....... BUT. BECAUSE GOLF is 90% Mental and 10 % physical... He has NOT made it back to the same mental factor he once had..... I am not sure he EVER gets it back.............. He could have done WONDERS if not for getting caught........... However when I saw him lining up a putt and then SPITTING on the GREEN????? I was done with respect.. His dad I am sure turned over in his grave when he saw this.

Like I said, I didn't condone or support what he did but he's not the first husband to cheat on his wife, nor will he be the last. Again, that doesn't absolve him from his responsibilities as a father/husband. I'm speaking strictly on his golf accomplishments.

I play and I think your percentages are off but until I play at the level he's at (which will be.....never) I don't know where they fall. Maybe some of the better players on here who play tournament golf can comment on that. I can't.

Hard to say because we'll never be inside his head to know but I'd say he's as close now as he's ever been.

SPITTING on the GREEN
meh...doesn't bother me much, unless he's dipping. It's more of a natural thing than intentionally spitting on the green, I would think. Keegan Bradley was really bad about it but toned it down when he was made aware of it. Even he said he wasn't aware he was doing it.

Bottom line is a lot of retards in this thread with ginger feelings towards Tiger. I say keep doing what you are doing Tiger and don't look back. How many damn people in this thread would love to be you?? lol

I'm very happy not to be that loser of a "god" who failed his family.

Definitely agree with this but until you're in the position he's in (or was in), you don't know how you'd act. To say otherwise is a lie. You just know how you HOPE/THINK you'll act.
Unless you are currently a billion dollar, world famous athlete....but I doubt it.

I would never think or act like I am a god because my parents would not instill that stupid shite in me.
That is not a lie, but don't pretend to know my parents.

I dont like him because he is cocky, arrogant and a total hypocrite.
I love how people defend jackasses like him when he would not piss on them if they were on fire.

I love tiger.
I want him to win and win and win, then bang more whores.

Not trying to derail this thread, because I definitely like Tiger, but:
At the moment, LeBron has a better case for the best player in basketball than Tiger has in golf. Get real.

Tiger was hated at the very beginning of his pro career. Alot of haters when he turned pro at the end of the golf season, when he signed the big nike contract, and when he ran wild through Augusta National GC.
The first time I saw Tiger was in the 1996 US amateur finals match when he came back from 2 down with two to play with some clutch putting. I was hooked.

The racism argument is pretty pathetic, as is the argument that people hate him because he's great. Twenty years ago, everyone wanted to be like Mike. The guy is 50 and still makes ridiculous $$$$ selling underwear because everyone likes him. He's black and completely dominated the game, and even Knicks fans couldn't hate him the way people hate Tiger.

Not really, it's a valid one. No one will likely own up to it and admit it.

I dislike him because I hate fake people. He puts on a show to the media. His is a pos who can give a crap about family values. There is a reason he hides his personal life from the media. He doesn't want everyone know what some know already.
