Saints have some bucks for a few moves, we need to resign jimmy long term

Sticky requested. Please keep it updated throughout FA and maybe we can stop with the 6 salary cap threads a day. Keeping a running tally in your OP would be awesome.

Both gifs remind me of myself, which makes no sense, because I am myself........ See how awkward I am.

Does anyone have a rough idea, if we stand pat with our draft picks, what that might total?
I think a LT will take up about $4-5 mil on a back loaded deal. Pretty sure, unless teams over bid, we'll take care of that so we can go BPA in the draft.

You also need to account for the about $4 million locked up in the restricted offers to Chris Ivory and Brian DLP.
Another thing no one ever talks about is the fact that the cap only accounts for your top 51 contracts. So as we add our five draft picks for instance, they will also knock off the bottom five cap holds. It's not a ton, but at about $400,000 a piece, you're talking about $2,000,000 taken off the draft pick allottment alone and $400,000 off of anyone else we bring in.

just throwing in King's MMQB on Bushman-
Left tackle Jermon Bushrod, the one free agent the Saints really want to keep, is 50-50 to go back to cap-strapped New Orleans, and his fate could be tied to whether the Saints can make restructured deals with defenders Jonathan Vilma and Will Smith.

Excellent job!
After reading a few more post on this subject, I feel I can challenge Mickey for the "Head Capologist" position with the team!

try a Holiday Inn first
or try working your way up like-
Entering his eighth season with the Saints, Joseph Laine has a wide-range of responsibilities in the player personnel department. Laine serves as Salary Cap Analyst/Player Personnel, where he assists with the daily management of the salary cap and also researches player contracts from around the NFL. Laine's duties also include evaluating current players on the Saints' roster, monitoring daily league transactions and assisting in coordinating the logistics for both free agency and the NFL Draft. Laine had previously served as a player personnel assistant since 2006 after joining the Saints as an intern in 2005. He is a graduate of the University of New Orleans with a degree in Business Administration, while currently pursuing an MBA from Tulane University.

well if they don't restructure, they are gone. I think that theory is dumb.

anybody know this guy?
don't think I've ever linked anything from Bleacher Report evah but this guy has done some good homework.
His math is a net $18,830,000 for cutting all three. pretty staggering the more ya think about it. For a $123mil cap that's over 15% of the entire payroll. Then step away from the cap and just ask this- Would I rather Smith, Vilma, & Harper for almost $19million or just go with Broughton, Chamberlain, & Bush for $2.5mil total. Methinks I could get a lot more out of that $17million.
