True- we never could quite go all the way- but man, those were some good times back in the day with "Daddy Dale" and his boys...I think we will see some happy times once again in the near future. Johnny has us headed in the right direction. I can't wait to see The Deaf Dome rocking once again....It' will happen- have faith.

I was at LSU from '80 to '84 - the heart of the good ole days. As much as I enjoy Tiger Stadium and as loud as it gets, there is nothing more fun than a packed and deafening PMAC.
"Let's Get Silly in Philly!"
"Tigers to the Top" (how bad was that song??!!)
And what was the semi "rap" LSU song to the tune of double dutch bus?
Charles Barkley (the round mound of rebound)
Dominque Wilkins taking off from the free throw line for a dunk.
Derrick Taylor with a half court buzzer beater vs. Auburn. (I heard he was pretty good at video games too),
And of course...the clock malfunction and the whole Tennessee team running out of the PMAC and climbing on their team bus with the win before things could get sorted out.

It was awesome.
I remember at one point LSU had the 2nd or 3rd longest streak of making the tourney.
Mike the Tiger repelling from the ceiling vs Kentucky. Assembly center was very loud in the 80's and 90's.

Dale Brown sure brought in some exciting teams

He didn't know shite about basketball(strategy, game management), but he knew how to recruit, hire, and motivate.
Much like Miles in football.

On the plan to Philly (charter, nothing but LSU), they ran out of liquor before we got halfway there.
A couple of rowdies commandeered the PA & sang LSU songs.
One of the flight attendants was heard to grumble as she elbowed her way down the center aisle toward another call button, "I can't believe I volunteered for this. Move aside, please. Please let me pass. I will NOT fly the return trip."
That flight was a party from start to finish. Good times.

I remember going to Dale's first game as coach. LSU played Memphis. They had been to the final 4 the year previous. LSU won the game. Must have been 1972.

I was in ATL in the omni when we beat KY in the elite 8 for the rite to go to the Final 4. There were at least 4k Tiger fans there. That was way back in 1986. I was in the GA dome in 2006 when we beat Texas in the elite 8 for the rite to go to the final 4 and there were only about 500 Tiger fans in the crowd that day. Daddy Dale put scrappy teams on the floor that would hustle, were undermanned and that we fell in love with. Coach Jones will do the same. I havent enjoyed watching an LSU bball team in a long time, but I sure as hell do now. And I haven't missed a game in 30 years. Win or lose, it sure is nice to see a team play with HEART!!!!!!

I agree 100% with this! Late 80's early 90's were great too.

I almost hate hearing about the glory days of LSU Basketball because it makes me want it now even more.
And, with what CJJ has done/is doing, I get even more anxious and excited.

It's been a while but I thought the SEC/SEC Commisioner put an end to the blind ref deal.
Lots of good things from that era, rapelling down from the top, the deaf dome meter etc....
