Nitro r/c motors haven't changed much compared to electric. I started out flying airplanes in the late '80's and back then there was pretty much no such thing as an electric plane. Now there just as prominent as nitro, even more so with helicopters. Brushless motors are making a place in the car and truck scene now also. There's some neat stuff out there nowadays.

Search you-tube for anything r/c. It's amazing what's out there. Check out the Connolly v-8. If I knew how to do a link I would, but I don't. Sorry.

Yeah, brushless motors have made the nitro world almost not worth the hassle.
Takes a lot of work to keep nitros tuned and running good.
And the electrics have instantaneous power!
