Pels/Pelis is really the only part that will bother me. It's like the Bees thing. It does illustrate one of the drawbacks I saw to the name: Pelicans does not roll off the tongue.

He asked if it had grown on me. I still hate it as much as when I first heard it. It's embarrassing.
