Pretty much this. I believe there are many LSU fans that do this just to have people say good things about them.
But perhaps it was the Stony Brook victory lap that sent me over the edge. That is never, ever, ever, acceptable. Show class, yes, but a victory lap? Absolutely not. That reeks very much of "Hey look at me. Did you see what I did?"

Baseball fans seem to always try and for lack of a better expression, out class each other. It sort of gets me sick.
