Maybe it's got something to do with the fact that the seniors on the team that you support just had their career end and you're out there congratulating the guys who did it.
The LSU baseball fan who is caught up in being "classy" isn't far removed at all from the football fan who is caught up in the reputation for being rowdy in my mind.

It's obvious you're the type to assume all kinds of shite...

As God is my witness, I swear I will NEVER start another thread like this one.
Heaven forbid the head coach of a visiting baseball team say some kind words about bringing his team to Alex Box Stadium!

Well said. I don't mind fans applauding a diving catch made by the opposing player's CF, but high-fiving the opposing teams players after our team was eliminated? If you weren't seeing red and ready to punch a wall after that game, you're not a passionate LSU fan. You're just a "baseball" fan. Nothing wrong with that. You paid you're money, you can do whatever you want.

Very strong post.

I think the players need to understand the same logic that the fans need to. That is, different people place different values on winning. We have a stadium of 10,000+ people, so if 300 of them want to stay back and congratulate a team who just made the biggest accomplishment in their school's history, why should that offend you?
People are different. They place different levels of attachment to the success of 20 year old athletes. That doesn't necessarily make them shitty fans. That certainly doesn't make them shitty people. It just means they have other factors in their life which take a higher value than baseball, so they won't leave that stadium feeling any worse off about their life.
Some people place a large emotional investment into the success of their favorite sports team. Others would like for their team to win, but if they don't, those people have no problem just going on with their lives. And when they see something that is absolutely impressive, even if it is contrary to their preferred outcome, they can respect it.
That doesn't mean you need to take the same approach to your life, do whatever you will. But it also shouldn't affect you in any way whatsoever. In much the same way, it shouldn't offend our players (and I very highly doubt it did).

I'm not bitter against the average LSU baseball fan. Just the "look at me" ones who put themselves over the game. And you know exactly what I'm talking about. The fans who give Stony Brook high fives for kicking our arse so their name will be in the paper the next morning.
This +10000000, especially when it puts us out on our way to Omaha. How did our players feel when they saw our fans doing that as they're feeling dejected as shite sitting in the dugout.

One of them who is now a senior told me he was thinking he was determined not to let it happen again.
FTR, I didn't stay for the high fiving after that game, but I don't criticize the fans who did.

This is literally the most ignorant statement I've read on this site.

This about as well said as I can expect on this board.

The really funny thing about this site is, the team is 7-1 and ranked in the top 10 and people are still bitching about last year.

Is anybody here bitching about the team this year or the team last year? Your reaching here, I'm pretty sure those fans didn't set this record.

You have a very valid point, but the thing is, these people can say all they want, but these attention hungry fans and their children went down and performed a selfish act that they will never admit was selfish. They did it just to recieve their "fan glory" and did it regardless of how our players felt.
