Do it on carpet. And if a piece doesn't seem to want to fit in its slot at first, just use a little pressure

Rub my HDD with a magnet too right?

Yes, for good luck.
Sounds like you have all bases covered. Have fun!

Don't open each box until you need the part. It's easy to mix up cables and accessories which will mess up rmas.

make sure to build up a TON of static electricity and then try to shock the motherboard.

So I got a copy of windows 7 from a friend of a friend. I asked about the product activation key and he said I shouldn't need it. What are the odds this works?

Watched some vids on how to build and it all look pretty easy. Im just paranoid and dont want to frick up my $1200 investment. So im getting someone else.

You will need a key at some point

So I should go ahead and get a copy to save myself time now?

I would. It can be a big hassle without it

I think u get a 30 day grace period. Buy or pirate it when you get some time or cash

Only hiccup I had on my first build was that I tried to do it externally first, to make sure everything worked, and the 20+4 pin power connector got stuck in the motherboard.
Apparently that's an issue sometimes. But it came out after a little while. Not hard to put together at all, it's almost like really expensive Lego blocks.

Last I saw Legos were pretty expensive so it probably isn't that different.

Just finished a build last night, hardest part is also connecting the damn CPU cooler with a back plate.
