I respond to a lot of different things about music. It can be a great rhythm that makes me want to dance, great lyrics that I identify with because they touch my heart, amuse me, engage me, surprise me, make me cry, make me smile, make me say, "Me, too!" or "Hell yeah!"
Some music puts me in my head (or in the bed) and some music puts me on the dance floor. Sometimes I'm the lead singer. I don't think I can define what it is about the songs I like, except that I respond to them.
My musical taste is eclectic. Really, across many genres. I grew up hating Cajun music. It was the music of my grandparents. Chank-a-chank. I loved Motown and rock-n-roll. As an adult, I LOVE Cajun music, zydeco music, some top 40, classic rock, alternative, country. Not heavy metal. It doesn't touch my heart or my soul. I can't relate to some of the instrumental music that my 25 year old son loves, but that's the way it's supposed to be, isn't it?
