If traveling is not for you, field work is not for you.

I don't mind traveling for 5 or so years out of college. Just wondering what my possibilities would be with experience in the field and wanting to stay in one area for awhile.

Or you could be stuck at home doing curative for 8 months.

Re: going in house. I'm still trying to find an in-house job. I don't have a PLM but I do have a JD. It seems like no matter the job, in this economy companies are looking for 5 and 10 year guys. I was talking to a ROW agent who works in Houston who told me his company doesn't even hire new guys without a law degree. That's grim.

True. But field work can be fickle. I get emails every week from people with MUCH more experience than me looking for work. Today I got a sob story email from a friend whose husband has 7 years of experience and has been out of work for 6 months.

I'm graduating from LSU in May and I'm interested in becoming a landman.

Go to all the job fairs you can. The O&G companies will be at most of them. There are internships for in house landman jobs.
