Agreed. My roommates won't give the show a shot but they're the first to make fun of it or dismiss it as a chick show not worth watching. I have to go elsewhere to watch it

There is no BBT hate. It wins Emmys. HIMYM does not. BBT also has higher ratings and its ratings are only going up.
I'm a Friends guy. I don't watch HIMYM because I think it's just a poor man's Friends; I've thought that from the get-go. That's not a good thing to be compared in that way to a game-changing series like Friends. It means that HIMYM doesn't really break any new ground.
I would argue that BBT does and that's what makes it a better show.
